Stage 3 and early stage 4 think they’re great… while others are not… when you hear people speak about the ‘competition’, you immediately know they’re living at stage 3 or early stage 4… I’d say run for the hills, surrounding yourself with stage 3 people is not what you are looking for!

And yes… an adult stage 4 tribe can speak about the ‘competition’ as in the foe they want to crush… in the medical world it can be cancer, in our world it can be anything that is holding you back from full #FunFreedomFufilment.
To move to stage 4, a tribe needs a sense of shared values. This is when strengths can become really powerful. When individual tribe members embrace their strengths, then they’re able to develop plans and strategies that are impossible [to attain] without leveraging a shared sense of vision and values and strengths.
You have to talk a language people can understand – at most, one stage above where the tribe is. As an example: say you’re working with a tribe at stage 2. First, find the people who want things to be different – the ones who are tired of the griping. Then talk stage 3 language to them individually. Say things like, ‘I think you have real potential to lead. I think that you could go a long way toward improving things here.’ If you’ve chosen the right person, then eventually she’ll look at her colleagues and say, ‘You’re right – I’m great, and this situation sucks.’ You’ve moved that person to stage 3. Then the jujitsu move is that person does the same thing for someone else.
To move from stage 3 to stage 4, first figure out what people value individually by asking them a series of open-ended questions, then start constructing multiperson initiatives. Make it impossible for people to succeed without partnering with someone else. One of the characteristics of stage 3 is 2-person relationships and ‘me/my/mine-thinking’. To move a tribe to stage 4, you have to flip that on its ear. A stage-4 leader tries to bring people together at work to form 3-person relationships. If you anchor those relationships on values, you can create a culture of people embracing shared values. Success is no longer about ‘me’, it’s now about ‘us’. Now it becomes ‘We’re great’.
Stage 5 requires transitioning from a focus on competition to a shared sense of what everybody’s searching for. It’s a lot easier to focus on a competitor than on how to express shared values, so it only happens about 2% of the time, it’s unstable. What’s interesting about stage 5: businesses produce things that shake their industry. The profitability, the build-out that comes from stage 5 often continues for decades. Stage 5 tribes change the world, they are the future of business.

Did you know that you cannot grow into stage 4, like in the lower stages?! Which is probably the reason why so many businesses, people and tribes are still stuck at stage 3 (still about 50% of workplace tribes)…

Know that you can never build a tribe in this profession if you think you’re better than others, it means you don’t believe in people… and believing in people is pretty much the esssence of our profession. We believe every new member of the tribe, regardless of their past, can improve their lives massively with this system and the support of the tribe. So in stead of focussing on the ‘competition’, we focus on our aligned values and we empower our rainmakers to work in triads, not diads.
Stage 5 is only reached at this point in time by 2% of workforce tribes. Be-cause we are all different rainmakers in this beautiful profession, let’s grow this global number to 16%. Stage 5 tribes are characterized by a sense of ‘innocent wonderment’. They apply themselves to the creation of things no one has dreamed of and are frequently incredibly successful. These tribes say that #LifeIsGreat.
